Scrap Donations

We are able to take scrap Tuesday - Saturday, during our normal opening hours. If you’d like to ask us anything related to scrap, please use the contact form at the bottom of this page. If you are a business that wants to donate business waste, please visit our suppliers page.

Donations We Love

We’re always on the look-out for different bits of scrap! Here’s what we’re always keeping an eye out for in particular.

  • Suitcases of any type or size would be greatly appreciated, especially the kind with wheels, nothing sharp or unusable for play however. Please ask inside, do not leave these donations in the foyer.

  • Soft Toys would be greatly appreciated, nothing plastic or sharp however. Please use the designated bin in our foyer, or ask inside if donations are too large.)

  • Pots, Pans & Utensils would all be greatly appreciated, no cutlery, anything sharp, or glass however. Please use the designated bin in our foyer, or ask inside if donations are too large.

All of these donations will be used for PlayPods and in enhancing children's play!

What we can’t take

We love all sorts of different scrap, and try to take as much as we can! However, there are some things we can’t take, or do not need, so please be prepared to take your donations away if we can’t accept them. Please also have donations sorted in a way that makes them easy to inspect.

Currently we can’t take:

  • Leaver Arch Files at this time due to excess.

  • Electronics with Plugs due to health & safety.

  • Large Plastic Children’s Toys due to current storage constraints. Please consider contacting your local nurseries or play spaces.

  • No Baby Things, please donate to the charity Baby Bank.

  • Scrap Fabric, though donated fabric that is +1 metre long, clean and uniform size is greatly appreciated.

  • Towels, Bedsheets or Pillowcases due to health & safety.

  • Thick Old Curtains

  • DIY/Home Paints, please donate to the SOFA Project or local recycling centre.

  • Aerosols, please bring these to a local recycling centre.

  • Upholstery Material at this time due to excess.

  • Clothes, please donate to a local clothing charity shop instead.

  • Mixed Up or Half Used Pens & Pencils, we love stationery and craft materials but the need to be easily reusable for our members an in good condition.

Even though an item may not be on this list, we have the right to refuse any items we do not require. Contact us through the form below if you’d like to check before visiting if we can accept a donation, or send a email with photos to scrap@childrensscrapstore.co.uk.

Be kind and considerate to our staff. They have no obligation to take a donation and can refuse it at any time. Unwanted donated items unfortunately costs our charity £2,000 a year. A great way to help us reduce this number is by asking first and being understanding if we can’t accept a donation.
