Reduce, Repair, Reuse, Recycle
We are a charity dedicated to helping local businesses divert reusable waste away from landfill/energy recovery and towards the reuse economy. We are also synchronising with other local organisations to promote reducing output towards sustainable development throughout Bristol. If you can’t prevent waste, have a look below for alternatives to avoid disposing of it. We accept donations of many different items for reuse or recycling, you can find details here, by getting in touch, or popping in-store to enquire.
Reduce
Bristol Waste Company is your local recycling, waste collection and street cleansing company. They are committed to working in partnership with the people of Bristol to help all communities recycle more, throw away less and waste nothing.
City To Sea is an organisation campaigning to stop plastic pollution – from the city to the sea. Their vision is for the world’s waterways and coastlines to be strewn with sticks, sand and seaweed … not plastic! They focus on providing practical, solutions-focused initiatives and advocating reduce and reuse over single-use.
Scoopaway specialise in Natural Wholesome Foods and Remedies for the whole family. Including natural Food Supplements and natural Body Care from head to toe. Organic and Fairtrade Teas and Coffee, Herbs and Spices and Chilled and Frozen Convenience foods. They also cater for speciality diets such as Vegetarian, Vegan and Coeliac.
Repair
The Makershed is a creative space for doing, making & learning new skills. They run courses in woodworking, upholstery, upcycling & DIY for beginners or the more seasoned maker.
Bristol Repair Cafe’s: What do you do with a chair when the leg has come loose? With a toaster that no longer works? Or a woollen jumper with moth holes? Toss it? No way!
You can repair it at the Repair Café! They have volunteers with expertise and skills to share offer free help with repairing faulty or broken appliances, toys or bikes, clothing or textile repairs, or help with getting to know how tools or appliances work such as a new phone or sewing machine. There are Repair cafes in various parts of the City and meet between 10:30 and 13:00 on the first Saturday of every month.
Reuse
Aid Box Community (ABC) is a grassroots, humanitarian organisation based on Cheltenham Road in Bristol. The charity has a community hub and Free Shop where asylum seekers & refugees in Bristol receive support, sanctuary and can also find basic essentials to daily life as the settle in our city. Many vulnerable people who have come to the UK escaping persecution, war or natural disaster receive less than £5 a day to live on, sometimes for a whole family, and ABC supports hundreds of people each year.
Baby Bank Network is a charity that supports families who are experiencing poverty or crisis by providing them with pre-loved items for their children aged 0-5 years, whilst reducing waste and promoting reuse of items. They collect pre-loved baby equipment, clothes, cots, slings, prams, feeding aids, books and toys, and pass them on to families, along with some essential new items like toiletries. Powered by volunteers and working with referral partners, they make sure your pre-loved donations get to the families who need them most. It is a free service for families and referral partners.
Bristol Waste Reuse Shop sells high quality electrical equipment & furniture diverted from Bristol s Household Waste & Recycling Centres. PAT tested & function tested where applicable. This is reuse in action. #WasteNothing
Bristol Wood Recycling Project do paid collections where they will take away any wood waste you have. They also have the option of drop off donations subject to these guidelines and cannot guarantee they will take it: No MDF or Chipboard, nothing with nails in, no timber under 1.5m in length and furniture must be in reusable condition.

Making Waste Things Play Things. The Children’s Scrapstore collect business waste to be reused as a creative resource by our members for children’s creative play, plus an arts & crafts shop.

Emmaus Bristol is a working community, where people access a long term home while they get back on their feet after experiencing homelessness. Their residents, called 'companions', run and operate their social enterprises - three charity shops, a furniture collection and delivery service, house clearance services and an ebay store. Companions train at the social enterprises to build work skills, with a goal to eventually get into independent employment and living. They can access courses, higher education and receive food, their own bathrooms and living space, a wellbeing fund and weekly financial living support.
Physionet collects surplus physiotherapy and related equipment across the UK. Once checked, it is shipped to countries across the world where these items are then distributed to people who would not normally have access to them.
The SOFA Project have sites in Old Market and Gloucester Road. They take most furniture and some white goods.
South Bristol Toy Library is a small, volunteer run local charity and a brilliant resource for children, parents and carers in South Bristol. They encourage free play, the sharing and reuse of toys and aim to support the development of children from all backgrounds.
The Library of Things are based in Kingswood and are an organisation where people can reserve and borrow the things that they need and want. The items you can borrow covers all sorts of things and ranges from lawn mowers to a fondue machine.
Recycle
TerraCycle is an innovative recycling company that has become a global leader in recycling typically hard-to-recycle waste. They offer a range of free programmes that are funded by conscientious companies, as well as recycling solutions available for purchase for almost every form of waste.
Precious Plastic is a project trying to boost plastic recycling worldwide. They do that by providing tools and knowledge to people around the world. For free, of course. Trying to give people solutions to fight plastic pollution.
